The Meetings, Incentives, Conferences & Events team (formerly known as C&B or M&E!) is at the heart of the business of any hotel that has significant meeting space. And yet often they are fairly junior and seriously over-worked! Is this team so focussed on following the right procedures that they fail to prioritise the most lucrative pieces of business? Do they have the knowledge and skills to produce a high conversion rate? Do they have the time and interest in up-selling, or do they view themselves as ‘operators’ rather than sales people? How much activity is pro-active, rather than simply reactive? Is lost, cancelled and denied business reviewed and managed?
